Our Approach

Training Philosophy

We want to help guide dog owners on their journeys through teaching a NePoPo® system to dog training, helping owners better understand dog psychology, and establishing training culture. That means, we use a broad spectrum of methods, tools and tactics to instruct both the dog and the handler as they progress towards their goals. We primarily focus on communication and reward-type methods, while still using disciplinary tactics and tools to mitigate breakthrough issues.

Just like raising children, we believe that our dogs thrive with consistent rules, clear language, and appropriate reinforcement methods. As with our relationship with our children, our bond with dogs is one of love and respect, and not fear or bribery.

There are nearly innumerable methods of dog training, and most of those methods will work well when applied with the appropriate mindset, strategies and time. However, we find that balanced training satisfies the optimal compromise for all considerations in the training process.

The majority of dog training is actually handler (people)training. Through this process you will understand proper human-dog relationships and communication, how to develop a language for your dog, clear and consistent communications and how to build the strongest relationship you’ve ever experienced with your dog.

 FAQs

  • No, a prong collar does not hurt your dog if used and fitted correctly. The prong collar is designed to mimic the mother’s teeth when then grab a puppy to during a correction. Prong collars evenly distribute the weight and pressure around the entire neck because the links of the prong collar tighten simultaneously. It is actually much safer than a dog pulling on a flat collar where all the pressure is placed on the dogs trachea. Most dogs learn to self-correct with prong collars due to the discomfort felt when pulling.
